Okay....I'm ready for another holiday
It's sort of a let-down when it's all over---things aren't so sparkly and pretty anymore. The living room is dark in the evenings and we all miss that tree glowing warmly in the corner. Sigh.
Joe and I are back to work, begrudgingly, and Em is dreading school on Monday. The worst part is now that her broken ankle is better she'll be back to taking the bus again.--I was driving her for a couple of months while she had the boot on her leg. It's just salt in the wounds, that darn bus. There's just nothing good about having to return to routine and having to answer to an alarm in the wee hours of the morning.
So, here we sit, in the shadow of Christmas, wondering where the time went. We have settled into the early darkness of January winter days, and are waiting, patiently for snow to come. "What good is cold if you can't have snow?" Emma said the other day. Yeah, I agree. Why waste all that bundling up on cold? Bring on the snow, Mother Nature. And as Hobbes sits peering out the windows, I can't help thinking that he feels the same.
I think he misses the tree too.
